This Mughal architectural wonder came into being after ten years of hard
work. The massive fort was used mainly as a palace for the Mughal
family. The Lal Quila showcases the various architectural experiments
which were made as per the tastes of the Mughal Emperor. Shah Jahan, the
Mughal Emperor, called this fort as the “Uru- Muhalla”.
The fort had a major role to play as the new capital of Shahjahanabad.
